About Panshet Dam
Panshet Dam was built in 1950, and it is also called Tanaji Sagar Dam. It is located in the Sahyadri range, which is surrounded by hills and waterfalls. This dam is 50 km away from Pune, and it has now become the weekend gateway to Pune and other surrounding areas. The dam back water is roughly 14 kms long. surrounded by Camping sites, Resorts and hotels. May people visit panshet dam for one day trip.

Panshet Dam Past:
In the year 1961, Jan 12th, Due to heavy rainfall, the Panshet dam bursted casing massive floods in Pune and surrounding villages. Experts say that instead of using reinforced cement Plain concrete blocks were used in the construction.

Due to the heavy force the dam bursted within the first year of storing water. It is estimated that more then 1000 people died due to the bursting of dam.
